Bridgend singer to support country music legend

An young Inishowen singer has hit the jackpot. Bridgend’s Bryan Mullan supported a country music legend last week. Before the concert he thought “someone was playing a practical joke” on him when he was told he would be playing with Bob Wooten who used to be in Johnny Cash’s backing band. Bryan is currently creating a name for himself on the country music scene and recently released his first single, a double A side of True Love Waits and Can you feel it. It is receiving extensive airplay by radio stations across the country, especially in the West where he has built up a large fanbase. Bryan’s CD was picked up by a music promoter who was so impressed he rang Bryan personally last Wednesday and told him that he wanted him to be the support act for singer Bob Wooten’s tour of the northwest. Bob Wooten is the lead singer and one of only two original members of the Tennessee Three, the back up band for the late Johnny Cash from the early 1960s until 1997, when he retired from touring. He tours throughout the world. Bryan has performed in front of large crowds on many occasions but not as an official tour act. Speaking after his first show at the Millennium Forum, Bryan said that the experience was “amazing”. He said: “When I got the call I wasn’t sure whether to believe it or not. When I realised that it was true, I was really excited. “I was nervous when I came out and saw all the people in the forum and because it was my first tour but as soon as I started singing I was grand. The audience was great. Bob Wooten is a really down to earth man too.” Bryan is currently recording his first album which will be in the shops in early December. His second single, Travelling Shoes will be released in three weeks.
